About Our Practice

Originally established in 1981 by David and Nancy Oatman, we created a family owned and operated business in Elgin Mall, now located at 308 Wellington St. Offering eye exams, eye glasses & contact lens, dispensing in St. Thomas Ontario. Presently the practice is operated by Amy Annett. We provide a wonderful, caring and knowledgeable staff as well as 3 Optometrists for all your eye care needs. David and Nancy purchased the business from Don Sandercott and Imperial Optical and formed the limited Company. Nancy was instrumental in guiding our company through some very lean years. Nancy was very skilled in office administration and helped with many sides of the business. Unfortunately we lost Nancy to a lengthy illness in December of 2016 and she will forever be missed.

David Oatman
Former Owner/Optician

Dave has owned Elgin Optical since 1981 and recently retired in June 2023. Dave is a licenced Optician, graduating from Ryerson College in 1975. Dave has worked in the Optical business for over 45 Years and brought great knowledge and fantastic customer service.  

Amy Annett
Owner Optician

Amy has been with Elgin Optical since 2011. Amy is a licensed Optician, graduating from Georgian College in 2001. She worked in London for ten years before joining the Elgin Optical team. Amy is the managing Optician for Elgin Optical, filling Optical prescriptions for Glasses and Contact Lenses.  

Kyleigh

Kyleigh joined our team in the summer of 2020. She completed 1 year of Pre-Health Science at Fanshawe College from 2019-2020. Kyleigh is currently a student optician and performs receptionist duties as well as eyeglass selection, adjustments and repairs.

June has been with Elgin Optical since 2007, and works as an assistant and secretary for Dr. Khamis and Dr. Foley

Pam

Pam has been with Elgin Optical since 1984. Pam has been a valued, reliable part of our team and is able to complete many different tasks. She is a fantastic Frame stylist and preforms many administrative duties. Pam really is an asset to our family business.

Rachel

Rachel has been with Elgin Optical since the fall of 2017. She received her Bachelor of Arts in Sociology at King’s University College in 2020. Rachel is currently an optician and our laboratory technician. She assists in eyeglass selection, adjustments and repairs.
